Membership

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the New England Dermatological Society

Application Requirements and Exceptions:

Completion of the NEDS application. This can be done online (preferred) or by submitting a paper application*EDUCATIONAL FIELDS MUST BE COMPLETED (e.g., undergrad through post grad, including medical/nursing school, residency, internship, fellowship and specialty area/s) even if this information is listed in your CV)

Current CV (upload into the online application where indicated OR email to NEDS@mms.org with MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION CV in your SUBJECT LINE)

Application Fee

IS NOT REQUIRED for Physician or Associate level applicants who apply within one year of graduation. Ignore the invoice issued and, if approved for membership, the first year of membership (through Sep 30) is offered at no charge (membership dues will apply starting in year 2)

IS REQUIRED for all other Physician, Associate, Affiliate and Adjunct level applicants.

Approved Affiliate and Adjunct level applicants who apply within one year of graduation will be issued a rebate of $ 112.50 (50% of the application fee).

NOT REQUIRED for Physician and Associate Level Applicants

For ALL application levels, enter the name of the dermatologist who recommended that you apply for membership (application form field). 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants must be a New-England-based healthcare practitioner falling into one of the membership categories listed in the table below.

Residents and Fellows: Residents and Fellows enrolled in New England-based dermatology training programs are considered 'in training' members and do not pay membership dues. They are invited to formally apply for NEDS membership AFTER completion of their derm training should they remain in New England. To attend NEDS meetings at no charge, register as a 'resident' or 'fellow'  and enter your training program name (e.g. medical school, teaching hospital) in the organization field. 

Referral Rebate: The Society offers a $50 rebate on membership dues to any member who refers a new member to the Society.

Membership Categories

 Member      Physician who is board-certified* by the American Board of Dermatology (*waived for applications  submitted within the first year post graduation where board-eligible status is acceptable)
 Associate Physician who has completed 3 years of training in dermatology but not board certified
 Affiliate   Non-dermatologists with dermatology-related specialty (i.e. researcher, pathology-trained dermatopathologist)
 Adjunct    Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who work under the supervision of a Dermatologist

 Next steps

Completed applications will be reviewed at the next scheduled NEDS Council meeting (4 per year). If an application has been submitted but not yet reviewed by the Council, applicants can still attend one NEDS meeting at no charge. They would register as a  'non-member' and ignore the $ 225 registration fee (it will be voided out).
