Membership

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the New England Dermatological Society!

To apply for membership, the following items are required:

  1. Completion of the NEDS application. This can be done online (preferred) or by submitting a paper application*EDUCATIONAL FIELDS MUST BE COMPLETED (e.g., undergrad through medical school, residency, internship/fellowship information) even if this information is already included in your CV.
  2. Your CV (required for ALL levels of membership). Please attach to  your online application where indicated OR forward to NEDS@mms.org
  3. Your Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from an Active NEDS Physician Member (still in active practice). Note:  an optional LOR form is available: 2023 Website LOR Fillable Form.pdf Please forward your completed LOR to NEDS@mms.org
  4. Payment of your $225 Membership application fee.
  5. Meet eligibility requirements:  Must be a New-England-based healthcare practitioner falling into one of the membership categories listed below.
  6. NOTE:  New England-based dermatology residents are NOT required to formally apply for membership (no dues required). Their resident level membership is automatic. 

Residents and Fellows: Residents and Fellows in New England area dermatology training programs are do NOT need to apply for NEDS membership until they complete their derm residency/fellowship.  They are also eligible to attend NEDS meetings without an attendance fee (just register using the 'resident' or 'fellow' registration category and include your training program name in the organization field. Should they remain in New England, NEDS offers a 50% discount (through a rebate) on first year membership dues for approved applicants who apply within one year of completing their residency or fellowship training. The $ 225 application fee, which transfers over to membership dues upon application approval, must be paid in full as part of the application process.

Referral Rebate: The Society offers a $50 rebate on membership dues to any member who refers a new member to the Society.

Membership Categories

 Member     Physician who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology
 Associate Completed 3 years of training in dermatology but not board certified
 Affiliate   Non-dermatologists with dermatology-related specialty (i.e. researcher, pathology-trained dermatopathologist)
 Adjunct    Nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work under the supervision of an Active NEDS Member

 Next steps

Your application will be reviewed at the next scheduled Council meeting when all required information is received. Applicants are notified if their membership has been approved or if there are additional items required for approval.
